FCCA
Sails Full Steam Ahead for 2001 The
Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association Platinum Associate Membership Advisory
Council met with senior purchasing and marketing executives from the FCCA's
11 Member Lines at this year's first Platinum Associate Member meeting
on March 9, 2001. The Advisory Council is comprised of port authorities,
tour operators, tourism agencies and suppliers in the Caribbean, Mexico,
Central America, South America and the United States. Michael Ronan, the FCCA's new security operations committee chairman, and director of destination development for Royal Caribbean International opened the meeting by addressing numerous issues pertaining to the member's respective destinations. Issues included acquiring a group insurance policy for tour operators in the Caribbean, building stronger relationships between the hotel industry and the cruise industry, product/destination development and improvement, and building a stronger relationship with cruise industry partners and Platinum Associate Members. Following the meeting the Platinum Members were joined by key executives from the FCCA's Member Lines for a three-day cruise aboard Royal Caribbean International's Majesty of the Seas. The Platinum Membership cruise allowed members to socialize with cruise executives on an individual basis. During Seatrade, the Platinum Associate Advisory Council once again gathered to discuss issues and resolutions brought forth from their initial meeting in February. Following the meeting the group joined a group of FCCA Associate Members on the Norwegian Sea for a luncheon hosted by Norwegian Cruise Lines. To conclude a memorable week, the Platinum Associate Members once again interacted with cruise executives, including presidents and CEO's of the FCCA's Member Lines at a cocktail reception and Miami Heat basketball game hosted by Micky Arison, FCCA chairman and Carnival Corporation's, chairman & CEO.
