Miami Heat and FCCA Foundation Team Up for Charitable Event

Pembroke Pines, FL (December 9, 2015) - Through partnership between the Miami Heat and FCCA Foundation, a group of FCCA Platinum Members experienced a night of superstardom while supporting a good cause and networking with Micky Arison, owner, Miami Heat, and chairman, Carnival Corporation & plc and the FCCA.

The group arrived at the American Airlines Arena through the Heat locker room, where they found individualized lockers housing personalized jerseys, before going onto the Heat bench for performances by the Heat Dancers and Burnie. After entrances featuring an introduction by Miami Heat announcer Mike Baiamonte and pyrotechnics that normally heat up sold-out crowds, the members went onto the court for the first ever sit-down dinner on the Miami Heat floor.

With 100 percent of the $120,000 raised benefiting the FCCA Foundation, a non-profit, charitable organization that aids humanitarian causes in the Caribbean and Latin America, the event not only led to an all-star time for attendees, but also the fulfillment of knowing they helped efforts like disaster relief; donations to schools, hospitals and orphanages; and the Holiday Gift Project, which is bringing gifts and smiles to 9,000 underprivileged children throughout 40 destinations this holiday season.

"We are pleased to assist the amazing work that the FCCA Foundation has been doing for the past 22 years," told Arison. "It is important to take care of people in need, which makes it even more gratifying to see the Foundation continue to partner with charities who have children counting on them, as well as assisting destinations in times of need."

"The FCCA and FCCA Foundation appreciates the efforts to all involved from the Miami Heat team to make this event possible," told Michele Paige, president, FCCA. "Everyone who helps the Foundation truly is a superstar, and the money raised will be the highlight-worthy assist to deserving people."

About the FCCA Foundation
The FCCA Foundation provides a tangible mechanism for the cruise industry to fund a range of humanitarian causes in Caribbean and Latin American destinations. In its 22 years, the Foundation has benefited thousands of citizens by providing funding and countless hours to causes and charities throughout the regions. In addition to assisting deserving institutions like charities and hospitals and aiding during crises like natural disasters, the Foundation executes annual projects, including the Holiday Gift Project, which delivers thousands of presents and smiles to underprivileged children during the holiday season, and poster and essay competitions to award students' efforts and creativity.

Created in 1972, the FCCA is a not-for-profit trade organization that provides a forum for discussion on tourism development, ports, safety, security, and other cruise industry issues and builds bilateral relationships with destinations’ private and public sectors. By fostering an understanding of the cruise industry and its operating practices, the FCCA works with governments, ports and private sector representatives to maximize cruise passenger, crew and cruise line spending, as well as enhance the destination experience and increase the amount of cruise passengers returning as stay-over visitors.
